Description

Vitamin B for horses

Under natural conditions and in a healthy horse, additional administration of vitamin B, C or K is generally not necessary. This is because a horse produces these vitamins itself through the microorganisms in the gut, or intestinal flora. However, when the intestinal flora is unbalanced due to decreased resistance, feed changes or health problems, supplementation may be desirable. HorseAdds B-complex contains all B vitamins in a palatable pellet.

The vitamin B complex consists of Thiamine (vitamin B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacin (B3), Choline (B4), Pantothenic Acid (B5), Pyriodoxin (B6), Biotin (B8) Folic Acid (B11) and Cobalamin (B12). Vitamin B is a water-soluble vitamin, this means that it is not stored in the horse's body and must be made or provided in sufficient amounts daily. In addition, it means that an excess will cause few problems because it is secreted rather than stored in the horse's body.

Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12 support energy metabolism in the body and contribute to the natural function of the nervous system. In addition, Vitamin B12 also helps protect cells from oxidative stress. Vitamin B4 is involved in fat metabolism and contributes to the maintenance of normal liver function. B5 plays an essential role in natural mental performance and to the reduction of fatigue. Vitamin B6 also supports protein metabolism, red blood cell formation and immune system function. Biotin is important for healthy skin and coat, Folic acid has a key function in amino acid metabolism and contributes to natural blood formation. Vitamin B12 contributes to natural red blood cell formation, supports the immune system and plays a role in the cell division process.

What does Vitamin C do in horses

Vitamin C, also called ascorbic acid, is produced by horses themselves from glucose in the liver. It is necessary for proper formation of bones, teeth and collagen and is a powerful antioxidant against free radicals.

What does Vitamin K do in horses

Vitamin K is required for blood clotting and contributes to the maintenance of healthy bones.
