Psyllium for Horses
Psyllium for Horses, Psyllium fiber, is made from the dried and ground seeds of the Plantago Ovato plant. Compared to whole psyllium seeds, the psyllium husk in HorseAdds Psyllium contains up to three times more fiber. Psyllium consists largely of water-soluble fiber and when it comes in contact with water it forms a gel. Psyllium stimulates the absorption of moisture from the intestines and helps make stools thicker. In addition, psyllium supports intestinal passage, protects the intestinal wall and promotes intestinal cleansing.
Many providers of Psyllium maintain different recommended dosages. However, studies (click here for a link) have shown that 50 to 100 grams per 100 kg body weight, for 7 to 10 days, promotes intestinal cleansing. Thereby, it seems that Epsom salt or magnesium sulfate enhances the function of psyllium.
